Hey everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying their start to the spring break. Today I’ll be sharing with you a quick and easy recipe I’ve learnt from my mamadukes to satisfy my curry cravings. I just got married in December, so living with the hubby alone, there are two stomachs I need to take care of so I’m slowly learning to cook. I think I’m doing good so far (or I’d like to think it’s good, maybe you should ask him haha). Below, I’ve shared this easy recipe for you and the ingredients you need. FYI, I bought almost all of the ingredients required at Walmart. You can find most of the indian spices in grocery stores. All this recipe requires is a few spices, some vegetables, chicken and you are good to go. 🙂

      INGREDIENTS:
1 kg Chicken (I used 4 chicken breasts, sliced)
Sesame oil or vegetable oil (3-4 teaspoons)
1 cup of water
5 cloves
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
4 black peppers
3 Dry Red Chilli Peppers, chopped
1 Cinnamon stick (1 inch)
3 tomatoes, chopped
1 onion (medium-sized), chopped
Ginger Garlic Paste (2 tablespoons)
Turmeric Powder
Garam Masala Powder
Coriander Powder
Pepper Powder
Chili Powder
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves/Cilantro (optional)

This recipe serves about 3-4 people.

      DIRECTIONS:

1.Heat a large saucepan on medium heat for 30-40 seconds. Once heated, add 3-4 teaspoons of sesame oil or vegetable oil. I used vegetable oil for this recipe. Let it sit for 2 minutes.

2.Add all of the following items(see picture below):
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of fennel seeds
1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
4 Black Peppers
5 cloves
1 cinnamon stick

3.Add 1 medium-sized onion, fairly chopped. Put in 3 dry red chilli peppers (chopped). Stir the onions until they are golden brown.

4.Add 2 tablespoons of Ginger Garlic Paste and stir it with the onions.

5.*OPTIONAL* Add a few coriander leaves/cilantro and saute until fragrant.

6.Add 3 tomatoes (Fairly chopped) into the mixture. Add some salt to taste as well. Now, stir the mixture until tomatoes turn soft and mushy.

7.Add the following powders:
½ teaspoon of Turmeric Powder
1 teaspoon of Garam Masala Powder
1 teaspoon of Coriander Powder
1 teaspoon of Pepper Powder
**STIR**
1 ½ teaspoon of Chili Powder
**STIR**

8.It’s time for the main ingredient, CHICKEN. Add 1KG Chicken. I like to use chicken breasts, sliced up. So I used 4 chicken breasts for this recipe. Stir the chicken with the mixture for a couple of seconds.

9.Add ½ cup of Water. I like to have the water level the same as the mixture. Once added, cover and let it cook for 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally until your chicken is cooked through.

10.**OPTIONAL** Sprinkle with coriander leaves/cilantro for a garnishing finish.

THERE YOU HAVE IT, CHICKEN CURRY IN A HURRY! I hope this recipe and the pictures helped. Sorry, I didn’t make a video this time, since I’m fairly new at this but next time I’ll try!

  1. I have never attempted to make a curry, even though I have wanted to for a long time. This recipe looks easy and like something that I can do! I can’t wait to try it!

  2. Whenever my Mom serves chicken curry, I always ended up eating lots of rice with it. Mom wants me to be bigger, hahaha 🙂

  3. This is great! I love chicken curry or curry in general because it’s packed with flavor and it’s quite healthy as well. It’s really nice that you can prepare it without hassle.
